Holaxis is collaborating with researchers at Cornell AgriTech, Cornell University's agricultural research campus in Geneva, New York, to help apple growers improve fruit quality and profitability.
Moving even a small share of a harvest into better size and color grades can mean hundreds to thousands of dollars more per acre for growers.
The project, "From Orchard Block to Packing Line," is part of Cornell University's Future of American Agriculture Faculty Research Grant Program. It brings together orchard observations and packing-line data to help researchers understand how conditions in the orchard affect the quality of harvested fruit.
The team is developing three tools, CANOPY, CORE, and HARVEST, connecting season-long drone maps of tree health and crop load in Gala and Honeycrisp orchards with packing-line measurements of fruit size, color, and quality. The goal is to help growers make more informed fertilizer decisions, reduce waste, and improve fruit quality.
Holaxis is contributing expertise to support pipeline development and validation alongside Cornell researchers. This collaboration builds on our focus on reproducible AI for science, helping researchers turn data from different sources into reliable, traceable analysis.
